Crossword Genius

Tease for being a fathead (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

twit

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'tease' is the definition.
(I know that tease can be written as twit)

'being a fathead' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'being' could be 'wit' (wit is a kind of being) and 'wit' is found in the answer.
A single letter 't' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'for' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for twit that I've seen before include "Blockhead" , "Taunt; fool" , "Mild word for a fool" , "Stupid person" , "Silly ass" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
