I cannot really see how this works, but
'note' could be 'la' (musical note as in do-re-mi) and 'la' is found within the answer.
'get' could be 'find' (finding is a kind of getting) and 'find' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'aft' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
